Last week we had a special visitor at Solomon’s Porch. The previous owner, Mr. S came out to walk the property with us and answer any questions we had. We continue to be amazed at the Lord’s orchestration of all things…One of the first things he shared with us is that he did not want to take our offer, not really to our surprise, but when he heard about our hearts and the ministry and all the things we’d been believing for, it changed his mind. As he shared about the work he and his family put into the home you could see a mixture of pride and also sadness that he had to let it go. The meticulous attention to detail with every part of the home and the other buildings and even the landscaping is incredible. We learned that the flooring in the original farmhouse was made from actual trees on the property, the barn wood throughout the home and the studio was taken from a barn in northern Wisconsin and brought down, that the porch was a last minute addition, the bunk house/game room used to be a pig barn, the cat shack was the old kitchen and that the asparagus has been growing for so long that when Mr. S moved in 12 years ago he would often find neighbors in his garden helping themselves, ha!
Towards the end of our conversation, Adam shared a little more of our heart and mission behind Solomon’s Porch and the journey towards a property to fit the vision. Mr. S shared that as he did all this work to the property over the years, his friends and family would ask him “WHY, why are you doing so much to this place? And he said he didn’t know…until now. It was as if he was preparing it for us.” The funny thing is, as we moved into the property and were still accepting the reality of all the Lord had done, I kept thinking about God’s word and how it says He will prepare a place for us. Of course I know that is in the context of Heaven but I felt that about this place so strongly. While we prayed, and considered other properties, and wondered how it would all happen, God was preparing this place for us, with a little help from a friend. Thanks Mr. S and family. We are ridiculously thankful and pray blessings, healing and JOY over you.
